Mirror Lake or “Tasik Cermin”

I was back in Ipoh over the long CNY weekend and this is my latest Ipoh discovery.

A lake situated beyond limestone caves. The green water eerily still. And mirrors the greens above. Perfect setting for photography or a picnic, though seating space is limited, and it got somewhat stuffy with no breeze.

How to get there:

Go past the row of shoplots selling limau tambun till you spot this orange tyre shop.

Turn left and go straight on past Da Seng Ngan Temple on your left till you spot a house or some parked cars. Now get your car parked and walk past the house, and onto an area with some cranes and mounds of pebbles. I assume that this is a quarry. At the end of that area you’ll see an opening in the cave. This tunnel, dark and around 50 meters in length takes you to the lake. All that walking is worth the view that greets you at the end of the tunnel.

The best time to go is when there is not much sun. This gives the lake a more dramatic feel. Also, it goes without saying that the lake should be avoided when it drizzles or rains, as it will cancel out the mirror effect.
